Quilt and Stitch

Next Meeting June 21, 9am to Noon
We will continue to open the church every third Saturday of the month to work on quilts for baptisms and
H.S. graduations. We invite anyone to come pin or tie from 9 am to noon. NO SKILL IS NEEDED and
it’s a great opportunity for fellowship with other friends of Christus Victor. If you are interested in cutting pieces and sewing quilt blocks, we need help with that too. There are jobs for all skill levels.
In May we celebrated the graduation of two young men. We gifted each with a quilt and wish them many
blessings in their future endeavors.
Two ladies attended our May meeting and we were able to sandwich and pin two quilts. Unfortunately,
we are now out of twin sheets to use for backing.
We are in need of twin size flat sheets of any color. Flat sheets are used for the backing of the quilts. Patterns can be used but solids are preferred. Used sheets can be donated if there are no stains and they show
no wear. It is becoming very difficult to find inexpensive flat sheets as suppliers are selling them in sets
(1 fitted, 1 flat, 1 pillow case). If you have any sheets to donate, please give them directly to Karen or
Sandie. And let us know if you see a good bargain while shopping either in stores or online.
Regular yardage can also be used for backing. It takes 4 yards of 42-inch-wide fabric for each quilt. Plain
colored cotton fabrics works best. We can match almost any color to a finished top.
Remember that Quilt and Stitch meets every third Saturday of the month unless of a conflict with a holiday or other Christus Victor event.
